GREENPEACE – They understand video. What can we learn?

Greenpeace

Greenpeace Power

We all have heard of Greenpeace.  We know their stunts and antics.  So it is no surprise that their use of video is equally as effective. Before YouTube, we would see the visuals and clips on the news of the Rainbow Warrior sailing the globe, engaging with whaling fleets and illegal fisherman, coal transports and tiber rigs.   We knew that Greenpeace was loud and active and sometimes a little crazy.  But at the end of the day, we knew.  That is a powerful result. And they were only relying on the news to pick up their stories.

But in this day and age, anyone can spread the word on powerful messages.  So how has Greenpeace evolved.  Take a look at a few of these clips and let us know if you feel compelled to get involved or share the video with a friend.

Also, if anyone knows folks at Greenpeace campaigns, I would love the chance to speak with them about their efforts and what lessons that have for up and coming non profit leaders looking to spread their message through video.  Contact me at dave@heresmychance.com

Thanks all. And happy viewing.

Flash Mob of Consciousness @ Israeli Presidential Conference

Here is some awesomeness!

Share your Cause

Here’s My Chance rallied over 50 people to participate in the launch of The Israel Conversation Project (ICP) at the Israeli Presidential Conference 2011 #tomorrow2011 in a flashmob of consciousness #flashtomorrow. Our goal was to use such a unique event to raise awareness around the issues important to today’s young leaders.

ICP was created to provide Israel focused organizations a platform to share their stories and inspire action for their causes.

ICP will allow anyone in the world to start and join thought provoking conversations about topics critical to Israel’s future, like education, peace relations, security, poverty, image, and more.

The flash mob was a thank you to President Peres and should be seen as a call to action to join the conversation.

Actions Can Speak Louder Than Words

HeresMyChance_ActionsSpeakTipping point, a non-profit that raises and distributes money for poverty fighting programs in San Fran Bay area was able to raise a SERIOUS amount of money (6.5 Million!!) in one event featuring, you guessed it, a FLASH MOB!

We’ve all seen a youtube clip featuring a flash mob, but this one has really hit the mark with the ability to be so viral and spread the word for a great cause! It really does show us that actions can definitely speak louder than words.

Tipping point  has been able to keep things VERY interesting with their events… like a  video appearance from Will Ferrell making sure everyone sat in their seats OR ELSE.

About 80 to 100 Tipping Point staff members, board members, and volunteers danced to a choreographed routine, which they had practiced secretly for a month.

Will.i.am also made an appearance at the dinner, where he actually kicked off the start of the Flash Mob! Something the Black Eyed Peas are no stranger to (www.youtube.com/watch?v=CttB6FmMgT4)

As the song ended, giant curtains opened to dinner tables, and the dancers, arms pumping, led the way into the seating area. They got people to sit down in about 10 minutes, a task that would normally take much longer.

The flash mob connected with donors. “It’s something that starts with one person, and you reach a critical mass. That’s what Tipping Point is about, a few passionate people that create an idea and then there’s a domino effect. You capture people’s attention and you motivate them.”

So, we ask everyone, what actions have you done for #socialgood. We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below or post on our FB wall HERE

Check out the video below of the Tipping Point flash mob.
